Dr. Larry Crane Assumes Role as Vice President, Product Development and Engineering for the Electronics Group of Henkel

As the electronics group of Henkel continues its dramatic growth and next-generation materials development, it must ensure that expert staff is in place to lead the company's global expansion and product integration. To that end, Henkel today announced the promotion of Dr. Larry Crane to the position of Vice President, Product Development and Engineering.

With over 25 years' electronics industry experience, Dr. Crane has an extremely broad knowledge of advanced materials engineering and, in his previous 10 years with Henkel, has been instrumental in the engineering management of the company's leading-edge product development for PCB assembly and semiconductor materials. In his new role, Dr. Crane will retain his responsibilities for semiconductor materials management, overseeing operations in Irvine, California, Isogo, Japan, Seoul, Korea and Singapore and will assume the additional management and materials development activities for the company's advanced facilities in Hemel Hempstead, UK, Yantai, China, Yiangsu, China and for Henkel's joint venture in Linyuangong, China with Henkel Huawei Electronics.

"Henkel's position in the industry as a global materials supplier and formulator with the unique ability to provide compatible material set solutions across a wide range of products is truly distinctive," says Dr. Crane. "Over the last two years we have made significant investments to further our global reach, establish advanced analytical and manufacturing facilities around the world and deliver cost-effective, process enhancing materials technology to today's leading assembly and semiconductor firms. As Henkel continues to raise the bar for customers' expectations of a materials partner, I look forward to managing our product development plans and ensuring that customers can confidently select Henkel materials to reduce risk, manufacture reliable, next-generation electronics products and maintain their competitive edge, while realizing significant cost efficiencies."

Dr. Crane's primary objective for his new role is to further the global integration of Henkel's research and applications labs, streamlining operations to build upon the company's unmatched efficiency and extremely fast product development cycles. In addition, identifying future technology trends well ahead of customer requirements to maintain Henkel's track record of delivering market-leading materials technology, will be a central component of Dr. Crane's responsibilities in his newly-appointed position.

"Larry has been a key member of the global expansion team at Henkel, ensuring that our worldwide facilities are equipped with the most advanced equipment and analytical devices and staffed with the industry's finest technology experts," says Patrick Trippel, president of the electronics group of Henkel. "His knowledge of materials science and vision for product development is unmatched. I congratulate him on this promotion and anticipate that his outstanding contributions to Henkel will enable the company's future success."

Prior to joining Henkel in 1996 as Manager of Electronics Product Development, Dr. Crane held various product development roles with notable electronics firms including American Hoechst Corporation, W.R. Grace and MacDermid Corporation. He holds a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California at Riverside, a Ph. D. in Organic Synthesis from the University of California at Berkeley and completed his Post-Doctoral studies in Organic Synthesis at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Crane will report directly to Patrick Trippel, President, the electronics group of Henkel, and will be based in the company's Irvine, California Technology Center.
