DLG Certificate for Ammonia Resistant Components

Multi-Contact submitted their connectors MC4 und MC4PLUS as well as the Westlake junction box to a voluntary ammonia resistance test run by the DLG. All three components passed the test successfully. The certificate was officially presented at the Eurotier 2012 exhibition in Hanover.

The Westelake junction box and the MC4PLUS connector are the first of their kind worldwide to receive the double recognition for 1500 VDC (IEC) / 1000 VDC (UL). Additional certifications attest their resistance to ammonia as well as salt mist spray. This means that PV modules and installations worldwide may be equipped with the high-performance system. Even the use near the coast or on the roofs of stables is possible, with an increased voltage up to 1500 V.

PV installations on barns and stables are exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Especially on pig, cattle and chicken farms, gases emitted by the animals in combination with humid air condense on the solar installation. This may result in damage and failure if the individual components are not resistant to ammonia. The DLG Test Center for Technology and Farm Inputs runs laboratory tests to determine whether the tested object can withstand the impact of stable air over a time period of at least 20 years.
