DivX and MediaTek Expand Partnership with New DivX Plus(TM) HD Certified Digital TV Chip
MT5392P chip delivers high-quality DivX Plus HD 1080p video experience with advanced features in the MKV container
SAN DIEGO and LAS VEGAS -- DivX®, a division of Sonic Solutions® (Nasdaq: SNIC), and MediaTek Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced the DivX Plus(TM) HD Certification of MediaTek's 5392P chip. The chip is designed to enable digital TVs to playback DivX Plus HD H.264 video using the MKV container, providing consumers with a true cinematic media experience at high-definition resolutions up to 1080p.

DivX has seen significant momentum in the DTV space and has now partnered with the top two DTV IC companies for DivX Plus HD Certification. In addition, DivX works with nine of the top 12 DTV OEMs worldwide, and more than half of all DivX Certified DTVs are certified to playback HD content.
MediaTek is a worldwide industry leader, and its MT5392P chip is a full-featured multimedia solution for home entertainment. This is MediaTek's second DivX Plus HD Certified chip, following the certification of the MT8530 Blu-ray Disc player chip in 2009.
DivX Plus HD Certification is the premium level of certification available from DivX, optimized for consumer electronics products and supporting the playback of all content created with DivX software. Available on www.divx.com, DivX Plus Software allows users to create and playback H.264 video in an .mkv file container. DivX Plus HD Certified devices will playback all previous versions of DivX video, and DivX Plus HD video files with the .mkv file extension and AAC audio created with third-party tools.
