Dialight to Provide LED Shelter Lighting for U.S. Marine Corps

FARMINGDALE, New Jersey, February 29 -

Dialight Corporation has received a major order for its newly developed, high-intensity LED lights for military shelters, which have been approved for use by the U.S. Marine Corps. Complying with MIL-STD-461E, RE102 and CE102 for EMI/RFI shielding, they can also be used for vehicle interior and shipboard lighting, as well as for general illumination requiring high light output.

"This new light and related contract are the result of our strategy to develop products for significant niche applications, in which we can use the unique properties of LEDs to offer an exceptional value proposition," said Gordon Routledge, vice president of Dialight's lighting products group. "This product provides a robust yet extremely slim-line lighting solution for a very demanding environment. Moving forward, we have identified many more potential applications beyond the military where this type of product will be useful."

The impact- and vibration-resistant unit delivers 1,500 lumens of cool white light (5000-7000K) in a low-profile fixture weighing just 27 oz. (0.76Kg). Nominal power consumption is a mere 27 watts for the low-voltage light (0.95A @ 28V) which lasts up to 50,000 hours at 70% lumen maintenance.
Push-button-activated dimming mode reduces the light level to 10% of full brightness, and an externally controlled blackout mode reduces it to 0.01%.

The diecast aluminum housing features a white powder coat finish, vacuum metalized reflector and polycarbonate lens. The light is supplied with 10" jacketed lead wires with female Molex connector and 24" jacketed extension cable with male Molex connector. Operating temperature can range from -40 degrees Celsius to +49 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees Fahrenheit to +120 degrees Fahrenheit); storage/transit temperature range is -45 degrees Celsius to +71 degrees Celsius (-49 degrees Fahrenheit to +160 degrees Fahrenheit).
