DEK and Universal celebrate success of Hungarian Technology Day

DEK is currently celebrating a successful collaboration with Universal Instruments following the recent Technology Day held at the Hungarokart Centre in Mogyoród, Hungary.

The Hungarian Technology Day, held on September 6th 2005, was designed to ensure that DEK and Universal customers are kept up-to-date with information on current developments in relation to SMT products and processes. The one-day event featured presentations from industry authorities at both companies, beginning with a comprehensive market update delivered by DEK Hungary General Manager Stefan Techau.

"The Technology Day was highly successful - of immense value to both customers and presenters alike," explains DEK's Techau. "It proved to be a great opportunity for us to communicate effectively with our customer base, whilst responding to customer feedback and requirements. Ultimately, events such as this will inform our future processes, ensuring that product and process optimisation is consistently in line with customer requirements and market needs."

Techau's market update was followed by presentations from UIC's Richard Mitchell and Zsolt Perjés who discussed the 'Improvement of Speed and Accuracy for the SMT Placement Process' and 'Odd-form and Final Assembly' respectively. In line with the current drive towards lead-free, the Technology Day was also a source of information on associated product and process issues. DEK's Clive Ashmore informed delegates of the importance of implementing 'Lead-Free Process Solutions' at pre-placement, a message which was reinforced by W.C. Heraeus' Jörg Trodler who analysed 'Special Requirements for the Assembly of Lead-Free Products.' Finally, Ferenc Csizmazia responded to the most frequently asked questions received by DEK in a presentation entitled, 'How to Approach the Zero Defect.'

The event was concluded with an afternoon of Go Kart Racing, which was open to both customers and presenters. "After a morning of informative presentation and debate, the afternoon's events proved valuable, creating an informal atmosphere in which the lines of communication between us and our customers were widened further," notes Techau. "An overwhelming amount of positive customer feedback has proven that the event was both memorable and useful to all who attended. We look forward to exploring similar customer-orientated opportunities in the future."
