David Seyler, President of Riverside Brass & Aluminum Foundry Ltd.

New Hamburg, ON  — David Seyler, President of Riverside Brass Aluminum Foundry Ltd. is the former President of the Canadian Foundry Association (CFA) where he served from 2011 – 2012. During his time as President at the CFA, approximately 160 Canadian foundries and foundry members represented 80 percent of the tonnage produced and supplied.

Serving as President of CFA offered Mr. Seyler the great opportunity to meet many Canadian foundry owners, and chair AGM’s and Issues Meetings. David also acted as representative and voice for CFA members conferring with CEO’s of numerous manufacturing Associations, government departments such as environment, labour, health & safety, Workman’s’ Compensation Board -- to name a few.

During his tenure as President of CFA, Mr. Seyler worked closely with the CFA Environmental Committee and the Standards Branch of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) to set up a pilot project to test emissions from foundries. Riverside Brass was one of three foundries David “volunteered” to be visited and tested by the MOE. As a result of this project, acceptable emission standards were made, and a Foundry Specific Technical Standard was established by MOE. Working with and building relationships with government departments and providing “stake holder input and data” has been beneficial for Riverside Brass – allowing the company to be at the cutting edge and informed on any new government initiatives.

Mr. Seyler’s other accomplishment as President of CFA, includes the development and set-up of a safety policy by the CFA Health & Safety Committee and the Ontario Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS).  Annually, members of CFA can apply for the CFA/WSPS Canada-Wide Health & Safety Award if they meet the requirement of a reduced statistics on health related items by a certain percentage.

Riverside Brass continues to be supportive and actively involved with the CFA. Their involvement allows them to be knowledgeable of government policy changes, provides opportunity to make improvements, increase efficiencies and be good stewards of health & safety, labour relations and environmental concerns.  In essence, Riverside Brass customers can count on the company’s continued leadership in the foundry/casting industry.

Casting requirements by Riverside’s existing customers and potential new customers will be well served now and for years to come by Riverside Brass—a leader in the foundry industry!
