Dave Marquis Joins Board of Directors for RIMES

Lincoln, RI-based ChemArt Company president elected to local manufacturing association

(Lincoln, RI) - December, 2007 - ChemArt announced today that Dave Marquis, President of ChemArt, will be joining the Board of Directors of RIMES. Marquis already holds a board position with another local manufacturing association, RIMA (RI Manufacturing Association).

"I am honored to be a part of such an important organization," says Marquis. "RIMES plays a vital role in developing and sustaining manufacturing excellence in the state of RI." RIMES provides complete manufacturing solutions to Rhode Island's small and medium-size manufacturers, helping them solve business problems and raise their level of competitiveness and profitability. It runs in partnership with the RI Economic Development Corporation.

ChemArt has been actively involved in RIMES initiatives, including a program called Lean Manufacturing. Lean is a process management philosophy base on the success model of the Toyota Production Systems. Its goal is to eliminate waste in terms of time management, internal processes, manufacturing space and tools. The company began their lean initiative in the summer of 2007 with two areas of the workspace, and plans to continue through the remaining areas of the organization in the coming years.

ChemArt has achieved some tremendous milestones in the recent years. Starting with the 30th anniversary of the company in 2006, ChemArt has been featured on the Travel Channel's "Made in America" program, been given exclusive distribution rights to the infamous Baldwin brand of ornaments, and most recently partnered with the White House Historical Association to exclusive market and distribute the White House annual ornament, the largest ornament program in the United States.

Other highlights include some milestones in the past few years with ChemArt's owner, Richard Beaupre. In 2006 Beaupre was the recipient of the John Hazen White, Sr., Commitment to Manufacturing Award by the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA). He was also recently inducted into the American-French Genealogical Society (AFGS).

David Marquis is currently the President of the ChemArt Company, assuming that role in October of 1999. He joined ChemArt in 1994 as the Operations Manager overseeing the entire manufacturing process. In 1995, he led the ISO quality system initiative that was the first such implementation in the photo machining industry. In 1997, he was promoted to VP of Operations.

David graduated from Bryant College with a BA in Business Administration, and holds a Master's degree (MBA) from the University of Rhode Island. He is former Board member of the PCMI, the Photo Chemical Machining Institute, and a former member of the Manufacturing Summit Group as well as a current board member for RIMA, the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association.
