Act Now: Several Seats Still Available for April 11 Course, The American Way
There's still time to register for the upcoming course, The American Way, to be held by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on April 11 at ANSI's New York office.
The American Way: The American National Standard (ANS) Development Process, takes an in-depth look at the ANSI Essential Requirements within the context of the American National Standards (ANS) process.
The course offers a comprehensive "nuts and bolts" session for staff of ANSI-accredited standards developers and those interested in pursuing accreditation. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the ANS development process and procedures, the benefits of ANSI accreditation, and where flexibility exists in the standards development process. Discussions will center on the requirements contained in the ANSI Essential Requirements, including those related to accreditation, consensus development, standards approval, and ANSI's audit requirement.

This course is designed for staff who will implement the American National Standards process and for those who need to understand the specific and detailed procedures related to the development of American National Standards, maintaining accreditation by ANSI as a standards developer, and the ANSI audit process.
After attending this program, participants will understand:
the accreditation process for developers of ANS;
the ANS consensus development process, forms and procedures, including final submission of evidence of consensus to ANSI in support of a standard's approval as an ANS;
the importance of an appeals policy and the requirements for ANS-related appeals;
maintenance of accreditation requirements including the ANSI audit program, and how an audit can help accredited standards developers; and
the importance of due process provisions within the ANS process.
Note: As a prerequisite for the instructor-led course, registrants are asked to take the online course, An Introduction to Standards: Why, Where and How Are They Developed, and the accompanying online quiz.
The course will be held in ANSI's New York office at 25 West 43rd Street, Fourth Floor, New York, NY, on April 11, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration is required.
