Cornell Iron Works and The Cookson Company Brands Now Aligned Under One Company
Mountaintop, PA July 2008 - Cornell Enterprises, the holding company for Cornell Iron Works, Inc., has recently completed its acquisition of The Cookson Company. The Cookson Company is a premiere rolling door manufacturer with facilities in Phoenix, AZ and Gastonia, NC.
With the continued leadership of the Cookson brothers, Cornell plans to independently grow both the Cornell Iron Works and Cookson brands, leveraging the opportunities and efficiencies that being the largest U.S. rolling door manufacturer provides. While separate manufacturing, sales and distribution channels will be maintained, aligning the leadership of these two closure product brands will create market leading solutions and support for the design community.
Architects, design-build firms and specification writers can expect immediate benefit. By still being able to include Cornell and Cookson as equals in their specifications, they are assured that the product being supplied will be the same quality product required. And, having separate independent distribution channels ensures competitiveness and prompt execution on projects.

Cornell was founded in 1828 and has operated production facilities in the Crestwood Industrial Park, Mountaintop, PA, since 1965. The Cookson Company was founded in 1938 and recently received the International Door Association's prestigious Heritage Award. They opened their Gastonia facility in 1978 and moved their western manufacturing to Phoenix in 1990.
Both Cornell and Cookson manufacture a full line of environmental separation and emergency response closure products. These include rolling Service Doors, rolling Fire Doors, Counter Doors, folding Accordion Partitions and Security Grilles.
