Continental Access Supports FIPS 201 Requirements

November 1, 2007 - With an increasing necessity for more security in a world that is gripped with the uncertainties of terrorism, government entities are updating outdated security equipment. Governments are facing security challenges of increasing complexity such as privacy issues. As a result, agencies are investing in new technologies to improve employee databases. Often, safety regulations and user conveniences impede desired security objectives. Continental Access heard these concerns and created FIPS 201 compliant security systems such as Turbo Superterm, Turbo Superterm Four, Superterm, Superterm Four and Super Two. We have recently made public our CardAccess 3000 v2.5 FIPS 201 compliant software, which supports up to 25 users and includes CardAccess 3000 file server software with a software security key. Our FIPS 201 compliant equipment combines unique engineering to system design with an uncompromising standard for quality.

FIPS 201 was developed to improve the technical requirements for identification and authorization of Government employees and contractors to enter Federal facilities and information systems. As a result of these increased security measures, Government agencies now rely heavily on FIP201 compliant readers and on Smartcard technology. These pocket-sized cards conform to FIPS 201 standards and are embedded with integrated circuits that can process information. This implies that it can receive input, which is processed - by way of the ICC applications - and delivered as output.

Continental Access is complying with FIPS 201 regulations with its advanced controllers such as SuperTerm, SmartTerm, MicroTerm, MiniTerm, SmartImage Video Badging System, CA495 CardAccess and Software Readers.
