Columbia Marking Tools continues to broaden their marking equipment offering with the addition of the Italian-based CIM line of standard high-speed tag markers. Tom Phipps, Columbia Marking Tools CEO says, "Columbia has designed and built special tag marking systems for many years, but we have identified customer requirements for a standard, off-the-shelf, high-speed product line that is cost-effective and meets a wide variety of customer requirements in terms of speed and ease-of use. The machines built by CIM in Italy provide that capability and we are excited about the new alliance with CIM. This gives us the master distributor rights in the United States and Canada. Markets for this type of tag marking equipment include automotive & VIN plates, military ID tags, serial number tags, inventory control tags and tracking tags...just to name a few. The CIM equipment has GAS approval with the U.S. government.
The CIM product line includes: 1) the Model M 10, an economical tag embossing and debossing machine. The manually operated machine has a 60-character drum capacity with numbers and punctuation marks. It has automatic interspacing and free format on the whole plate. A correction device is also provided. 2) The ME 1000/2000 can be either a manual or automatic depending on the desire for loading and unloading of the tag or plate. It provides very reliable embossing or indenting for logos, Windows® fonts and special 200dpi characters such as country-specific characters and symbols. The unit provides the latest generation of electronics with Flash memory technology that is accessible via external RS232 service port. The machine is suitable for stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper and brass tags with marking speed of 50 dots per second. The machine also has a 2-line by 40-character LCD display for diagnostic visualization, as well as a lithium back-up battery system. The machine can be either manual (ME 1000) or automatic load (ME 2000) with up to 250 plates utilizing a unique variable plate size loading system with optional FIFO logic elevator stacker or side eject. Fonts and off-line data input is via and external keyboard.
