Collaboration Between Lauren Manufacturing, Kent State University Tuscarawas and Buckeye Career Center Leads to Job and Education Opportunities

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - May 25, 2017 - Lauren Manufacturing is launching its Tuition Assistance Program as a means of offering production department employees the opportunity to earn funds toward their education at either Kent State University Tuscarawas or Buckeye Career Center. The three entities worked together to develop a program that helps Lauren Manufacturing grow its workforce while giving those employees a boost to further their education.

“There is a strong work ethic in this area and Lauren Manufacturing offers a range of opportunities for recent high school graduates to make their mark,” states Mike Hovan, chief operating officer at Lauren. “We are excited to create this type of bond with Kent State University Tuscarawas and Buckeye Career Center. It helps all of us educate and employ our local community and that’s good for everyone!”

The Tuition Assistance Program is available to those students enrolled at Kent State University Tuscarawas or Buckeye Career Center and begins after 90 days of employment at Lauren Manufacturing. Furthermore, the company does not require a long-term commitment on behalf of the employee once an educational goal is met. However, the entire family of Lauren International companies offers a diverse array of industries and career paths for those completing post-secondary education programs. In addition, shift sharing options are available to provide flexibility for class attendance and other educational requirements.

Brad Bielski, dean at Kent State Tuscarawas understands the value of this program to our community. He states, “While our tuition is more affordable than many colleges and universities, it is still challenging to budget those costs. We are thrilled to partner with Lauren Manufacturing to help more students realize their full potential and gain such critical work experience along the way.”

Buckeye Career Center is pleased to be involved in the joint initiative. Bob Alsept, superintendent shares “Our team is excited to support this effort. So much value comes from the experience the students gain on-the-job and when you add the ability to earn tuition dollars, well, it’s truly a win-win.”

The three are conducting a joint Job/Admissions Fair on Thursday, June 8, 2 pm - 6 pm at the Science & Advanced Technology Center at Kent State University Tuscarawas. Applications for employment and admissions will be available and representatives from each organization will be on hand to answer questions.
