ASTM International Training Course on Coal Chemistry



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Implementation of new regulations for power plant emissions and the resulting increased demand for testing of fossil fuels and plant emissions emphasize the importance of Coal Chemistry Technician Training, a technical and professional training course sponsored by ASTM International. This new course focuses on 40 ASTM coal characterization standards that are used every day around the world.

Laboratory technicians and chemists, professionals new to testing, and anyone working in fossil fuel testing laboratories will benefit from this course. A B.S. Chemist degree or a Chemical Technician degree or equivalent with 3-5 years experience is recommended.

The course instructor is Dr. John T. Riley, professor emeritus, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Ky.

The course will be offered on May 18-19 in Anaheim, Calif., and on Nov. 2-3 in Tampa, Fla. Both classes will be held immediately following the semiannual meeting of ASTM Committee D05 on Coal and Coke. Class participants are invited to attend the D05 meetings.

The class attendance fee is $795 USD and includes course notes, a copy of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 05.06: Gaseous Fuels, Coal and Coke, and refreshment breaks. Students also receive 1.4 continuing education units.
