Chillers Prolong Electrode Life, Reduce Operating Costs in Resistance Spot Welding Applications

Niles, IL — A line of portable Chillers that provide predictable and uniform cooling of electrodes and electrode holders in resistance spot welding (RSW) is available from PolyScience. Designed to eliminate the cost, temperature fluctuations, and scaling associated with city or well water cooling, DuraChill® Chillers are ideal for maintaining proper heat balance and thus prolonging electrode life and improving weld quality and uniformity.

Available in both air- and water-cooled models, DuraChill Chillers have cooling capacities ranging from 5.2 to 10.5 kW at 20°C (68°F) ambient temperature. The company's 1.5, 2, and 3 HP models feature a 5° to 35°C (41° to 96°F) temperature range and maintain temperature with ±0.5°C (±0.9°F) stability. 5, 7.5, and 10 HP models maintain temperatures from 0° to 30° (32° to 86°F) with ±1.11°C (±2.0°F) stability. Multiple pump options ensure a good fit for RSW cooling fluid pressure and flow requirements.

Other standard features include dual digital displays that present temperature and pressure/flow rate simultaneously as well as user-adjustable temperature, pressure and flow rate alarms. A variety of factory installed options, such as serial communication and remote on/off, are also available.
