New Leaders Appointed to the NAM's National Public Affairs Steering Committee
Will Bring Strong Leadership in Business Advocacy to Advance Pro-Growth Policies
Washington, D.C.–The National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) National Public Affairs Steering Committee (NPASC) named two new leaders for 2013. Chris Brescia, vice president of government affairs at RockTenn, will serve as NPASC chair, and Marc Steven Scarduffa, vice president of U.S. government relations at Pfizer Inc., will serve as vice chair. They will begin a two-year term this month leading the NPASC in developing public affairs activities to support pro-manufacturing policies with policymakers, as well as coordinating advocacy efforts among manufacturers.
“Chris and Marc’s valuable leadership and extensive advocacy experience will be extremely beneficial to the NPASC and the NAM’s advocacy efforts,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “This year the NPASC will play an important role in the continued development and growth of our grassroots tools and 21st-century advocacy program to advance pro-manufacturing policies in Washington.”
The NPASC is made up of more than 150 leading corporate and government affairs executives from across the country. As part of the NPASC, these executives provide valuable insight to the NAM’s public policy positions and guidance on advocacy strategies. Additionally, NPASC members work closely with the NAM to conduct legislative advocacy campaigns and help implement the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence program.
“Manufacturers are facing many challenges, and it’s more important now than ever before that we all work together to advocate for pro-growth policies to enhance manufacturers’ competitiveness,” said Brescia. “I look forward to leading the steering committee as we work to develop new advocacy tools to ensure that the manufacturing story is heard by policymakers in Washington.”
