Celebration Commemorates 60-Year Partnership of Eriez® and Dominion-Carolina

Erie, Pa.-The longstanding, successful relationship between Erie, Pa.-based Eriez® and High Point, N.C.-based Dominion-Carolina Sales, Inc. was commemorated at a ceremony on May 30, 2007 in High Point at the High Point Country Club. Tim Shuttleworth, Eriez President and CEO, presented Jeff Carr, President of Dominion-Carolina, and his team with a unique, diamond-shaped award to mark Dominion-Carolina's 60 year anniversary as an Eriez sales representative.

Charlie Ingram, Eriez Vice President of Sales and Marketing, explained that the Eriez/Dominion-Carolina relationship began in 1947. Bob Merwin, son of Eriez founder O.F. Merwin, and Dean Thomas, a retired school teacher who would ultimately form Dominion-Carolina, initiated the partnership with a handshake.

When Eriez and Dominion-Carolina started working together, Thomas was employed by the Henry Hersey Company. The manufacturers representative company was later renamed the Hersey-Thomas Company when Thomas was made partner.

Thomas went on to form his own company, which eventually became Dominion-Carolina. Thomas maintained his relationship with Eriez throughout the years. He remained active in the business until his death in 1999. Dominion-Carolina remains a family business with Thomas' stepson, Carr, today serving as president.

Under Carr's leadership, the company has expanded and opened branch offices in Richmond, Va. and Rock Hill, S.C. "Eriez and Dominion-Carolina have changed and grown together over the many years of our partnership," said Ingram. "Eriez is fortunate to have this wonderful relationship, and our customers are fortunate as well. It's uncommon to find a field sales organization with so much experience, even longer than most principal companies have existed," he added.

According to Ingram, Eriez' partnerships with a number of United States sales representative companies go back more than 50 years, but its 60 year relationship with Dominion-Carolina is its longest. "Sixty years together is a remarkable achievement and it's a reflection of the way in which our two companies have operated over multiple generations and business cycles," said Ingram.

At the award presentation ceremony, Ingram told the group, "Our mutual customers have truly benefited from how Dominion-Carolina and Eriez have worked together for these six decades. We look forward to growing together for many years to come."
