Caster Concepts New Conveyor Business
Caster Concepts, Inc., manufacturer of heavy duty industrial casters and wheels, is pleased announce the addition of Conveyor Concepts to its family of businesses. Conveyor Concepts manufactures specialized components for the conveyor industry, including: conveyor rollers, drive assemblies, polyurethane wheels and many other associated products.
Built on Caster Concepts' custom manufacturing experience, Conveyor Concepts provides conveyor manufacturers and OEM designers quality subassemblies with short lead times.
"I am very excited about this new product group," said Caster Concepts President and CEO Dr. William Dobbins. "If you understand the core competencies of this unique business you will understand our move. We have 25 years of expertise in polyurethane, precision machining, fabrication and engineering - all working together to produce a product or solve a problem."
However, the conveyor industry is not new for Caster Concepts, as it has provided products for bulk conveyors, automotive manufacturers and highly specialized custom conveyors for years. The company also has experience re-engineering failing components in heavy industry to prevent premature failure and extend cycle life. "In our experience, the demands on these conveyor systems are predictable, and using finite element analysis and advanced engineering there are opportunities for all involved," stated Dr. Elmer Lee Director of Conceptual Innovations, the engineering arm for Conveyor Concepts.
"We're Not a Family of Businesses, but a Business of Families"
At Caster Concepts, the family atmosphere is a unique one. Overall, CCI has eight families that work in all areas of the business, from sales to fabrication. Over the next few months, we will highlight several of those individuals in the newsletter whom you may not interact with on a regular basis.
This month's family are brothers Steve and Mark Duncan. Together, the Duncan's have been a face in the Caster Concepts family of businesses for a combined 11 years.
Steve, who has been with Caster Concepts for nearly a decade, recently stepped into the role of Caster Concepts' Director of Quality. He will now be tasked with monitoring the cost of quality, supplier performance and all other aspects of quality. Steve previously served as the Manager of Reaction Industries for nine years.
"Steve has provided great leadership for Reaction Industries since starting at Caster Concepts and has an extensive background in quality programs from his previous experience," said Caster Concepts President and CEO Bill Dobbins. "I thank Steve for accepting this new responsibility and I look forward to his leadership taking us to a new level of product quality.
"When we started Reaction Industries, Steve was my choice to work closely with me to get the business off the ground. Steve has worked tirelessly to develop a polyurethane operation that has become a key part of the business growth plan."
Mark has been a machinist for CCI for nearly two years, with June marking his two-year anniversary. Mark plays in instrumental role in the drilling, milling and grinding of both the caster rigs as well as the wheel core.
"Mark has shown great value to Caster Concepts for the past few years," said Plant Superintendent Andrew Dobbins. "He has been instrumental in the shop floor reducing its lead times."
