Cartes 2013: DERMALOG Presents World Firsts in Biometrics

HAMBURG, Germany and PARIS – The biometrics expert DERMALOG is presenting two innovations at this year's Cartes exhibition in Paris: an innovative unique feature enhancement for the LF10 Fingerprint Scanner adds a new dimension function in signature captureas it can record signatures alongside the biometric fingerprint scan! At this year's Cartes DERMALOG is setting new standards in biometric face recognition with showcasing its Interactive ICAO Face Check which is not only user friendly but distinctly accurate! The software is the first interactive tool to combine face capture with a simultaneous check in accordance with the standards prescribed by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

From 19 to 21 November, DERMALOG Identification Systems GmbH is presenting its pioneering biometric identification technologies at the Cartes exhibition in Paris – the world's biggest trade fair for digital security and smart technologies. DERMALOG's exhibition focuses particularly on two product innovations, which are being presented to the public for the first time: the Signature Fingerprint Scanner and the Interactive ICAO Face Check module.

The DERMALOG LF10 Fingerprint Scanner for rolled fingerprints and tenprints is now available with an unprecedented additional function: a software module enables the scanner to record signatures as well as fingerprints. The fingerprint and signature are recorded on exactly the same scanning window. This means that, other than a pen, no additional hardware is required, such as a signature pad. Optimum use of the LF10 is guaranteed by an integrated switching function so that both applications can be used in quick succession. In many countries, this technology covers the need for multifunctional devices for biometric identification. For example, it can be used in visa, security documents applications, in elections, etc

With the product launch of its Interactive ICAO Face Check module, DERMALOG has added another new biometric identification technique to its product range. The software enables face images to be taken in accordance with the requirements of the ICAO using a commercial webcam. In so doing, the following requirements of Standard ISO 19794-5 developed by the ICAO are checked in real time: frontal face image, neutral background, visibility of the face and correct facial expression. The image produced can then be used for facial recognition. Further biometric features from the international directive are currently being implemented in the software. As it performs a live comparison of standardized biometric facial features, the Interactive ICAO Face Check module is used in particular at border controls or in other similar registration procedures. In addition to the live creation and check of a face image, the software can also perform biometric identification, in accordance with the features listed in ISO 19794-5, on images that have already been created.

"We are very proud of how our products have developed and we look forward to presenting these pioneering innovations for the first time at one of the most important trade fairs in the sector," said Guenther Mull, CEO of DERMALOG. "With these innovations, we are reacting to the rising demand for multifunctional identification systems and in so doing, we can demonstrate our expertise in the development of high-quality and innovative technological concepts. Our technology already enjoys a high level of acceptance and is becoming increasingly implemented worldwide. With our extensive research and development programs, we are confident we will consistently deliver INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES and that this trend continues in future."

At Cartes 2013, you will find DERMALOG Identification Systems in Hall 4 at Stand M 061.
