BSA Winter Meeting: Get the Facts About Counterfeit Bearings!

Glen Ellyn, IL-When the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) convenes its Winter Meeting January 17-19 at the Doubletree Guest Suites Tampa Bay in Tampa, Florida, attendees will hear an important update from Scott Lynch, President & Secretary of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA) on anti-counterfeiting efforts launched by ABMA and the World Bearing Association (WBA).

Counterfeiting is an estimated $600 billion a year problem which costs U.S. businesses $200 - $250 billion annually and is directly responsible for the loss of more than 750,000 American jobs. Lynch's luncheon presentation, scheduled January 18th from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., has already captured the attention of a number of industry leaders, many of whom have already been adversely affected by counterfeit materials. All BSA members and participating manufacturers are urged to learn about the facts and impacts of counterfeit bearings and how to partner with ABMA to educate and motivate end users to buy only from authorized sources.

In addition to the important update on counterfeit bearings, BSA's Winter Meeting provides an unprecedented opportunity for attendees to network with industry peers in a more casual, intimate setting than the association's annual convention. Individuals who are not currently serving on a BSA committee can experience the work of the committee(s) of their choice with no obligation to join the committee; see how participation can influence the direction of the industry; and learn how committee participation can benefit them personally and improve their company's position in the marketplace.

BSA has secured an exceptional room rate of $119 per night to keep travel expenses low, and the Doubletree Guest Suites Tampa Bay also provides complimentary shuttle service to Tampa International Airport. Plans have also been made for a BSA golf event on Sunday morning, January 17, 2010 at the Westchase Golf Club in Tampa. This is an excellent opportunity for additional networking with industry leaders. Complete information about the meeting including on-line registration and hotel reservations is available at the meeting website: www.bsaconventions.org/2010winter/index.shtml. Please note that the deadline for meeting registration and hotel reservations is December 16, 2009.
