BSA's Latest Bearing Brief: A Guide to Linear Motors

Glen Ellyn, IL-The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) has announced publication of its latest Bearing Brief, A Guide to Linear Motors. Linear motors are found in those applications where high speed, accuracy, or repeatability are required. As the Bearing Brief points out, mechanically driven linear products may have some of these attributes, only linear motors can have all of them.

A Guide to Linear Motors distinguishes between Voice Coil, Force Tube, Stepper, Hybrid, Brush DC, Induction, and Synchronous linear motors and includes a Quick Selection Guide and an easy-to-read chart of properties for each motor type.

Like all BSA Bearing Briefs, A Guide to Linear Motors is available for free download from Tools You Can Use on the BSA website www.bsahome.org. It's the latest in a series of more than 20 free, single-topic user bulletins designed to deliver expertise to meet the needs of the end user as well as bearing industry professionals. Bearing Briefs are ideal references on the shop floor and as a pass-along to end users. Special thanks to John Long, Applications Engineer, NSK Precision America, Inc., for authoring this Bearing Brief, and to Baldor/Dodge/Reliance and the Schaeffler Group for providing graphics.
