Original Press Release:

BSA 2013 Fall Meeting: How do Amazon and Google Impact Your Distribution Channel?

Glen Ellyn, IL — The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) 2013 Fall Meeting, October 27-29 at the Renaissance Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, features a timely presentation by Lindsay Konzak, editor of Modern Distribution Management, on the impact of Amazon and Google on the bearing distribution channel.  AmazonSupply and Google Shopping for Suppliers have both entered the B-to-B online market over the past couple of years. What does their increased focus on B-to-B mean for more traditional wholesale distribution channels?

This presentation is based on the results of a recent survey of MDM readers and BSA members on how Amazon and Google have affected their business. Konzak will facilitate a discussion on what Amazon and Google’s initiatives mean for the industry. The market is changing, and this discussion will help distributors and manufacturers better prepare for the potential impacts.

The presentation and discussion will be part of a very timely meeting of BSA’s Distributor/Manufacturer Relations Committee at the BSA 2013 Fall Meeting and is part of a dynamic Fall Meeting Agenda that will also feature a legislative and regulatory update from the National Association of Wholesaler’s (NAW) Sr. Vice President for Government Affairs, Jade West, on "How Washington is Affecting Your Bottom Line: A Special Legislative and Regulatory Update."

In addition to these two programs, the 2013 Fall Meeting is co-located with ABMA’s Fall Meeting, offering a significant opportunity for expanded networking and – for those planning to attend both events – the benefits of a simplified travel schedule. All ABMA and BSA attendees are invited to a joint BSA/ABMA reception and dinner.

Attendees at BSA Fall Meetings always enjoy the benefits of experiencing the work of the BSA committees of their choice, seeing how participation can influence the direction of the industry and learning how participation on a committee can benefit attendees personally and improve their company's position in the marketplace. Complete information about the meeting including online registration and hotel reservations is available on the website. Meeting registrations and hotel reservations are due on or before October 7th.

BSA is the “must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors.” An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted, anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association’s mission says, “BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors.” For more information on BSA, contact the BSA office at (630) 858-3838; email info@bsahome.org or visit the association website at www.bsahome.org.
