BSA Elects Tim Breen as President



GLEN ELLYN, IL—The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) has elected Tim Breen, Motion Industries, Inc., as President for 2015-2016, effective July 1, 2015.



Breen takes the helm of the industry’s leading association for authorized distributors at an exciting time. Reporting on BSA’s recent Distributor Survey, Breen told attendees at the 2015 Annual Convention that the results reveal 2014 aggregate bearing sales volume for participating distributors was $2,840,000,000. This represents an increase of 3.3% over the 2013 volume of $2,750,000,000. In addition, said Breen in his report to the convention, participant estimates indicate that 2015 will continue this trend with a gain of 8% over 2014.



Delving further into the Distributor Survey, Breen also told attendees that the number of branch employees for respondents total 17,771 and Head Office employees for total 2,844. He reported that 57.1% of participants plan to expand their workforce in the next 12 months, noting some of the generational differences in today’s workforce including the influence of millennials. The new data included in this year’s results is thanks to a revised 2015 Distributor Report Survey, directed by the BSA PAR Task Force. Survey results are based on 22 BSA member respondents among 36 BSA members.



In addition to Breen, the following industry leaders were elected to serve BSA in 2015-2016: Brian Negri, Jamaica Bearings Company, Inc., as Chairman of Board; John Ruth, BDI, as Vice President; and Brian Davis, Bearings and Drives Inc., as Treasurer. BSA also elected Ben Nations, Bearings and Drives Inc., Bill Shepard, BDI, and Mitch Bouchard, General Bearing Service to serve three year terms on the Board of Directors. Peter Fitzpatrick, Bearing Specialty Company, was elected to fill an unexpired Board term. The elections were held in conjunction with the association’s 2015 Annual Convention, May 2 – 5 at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island in Amelia Island, Florida. All newly elected leaders will begin their terms of office on July 1, 2015.



BSA also recognized Rex Davis, IBT, Inc., and Brian Davis, Bearings and Drives, Inc., who both completed terms as Board members. Those directors continuing on the BSA Board are Alfredo Bichara, Baleromex, S.A. de C.V.; Dermot Strong, Motion Industries Inc. (Canada); Jim Scardina, Bearing Headquarters Company; Steve Smidler, Kaman Industrial Technologies; and Todd Hamlin, DXP Enterprises.
