BorgWarner Supplies VTG Turbocharging Technology for Diesel Engines from Hyundai Motor Company

BorgWarner's Advanced Variable Turbine Geometry Turbochargers Boost Performance and Fuel Economy for Hyundai Motor Company's Efficient and Powerful Diesel Engines

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - BorgWarner provides its latest variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbocharging technology for a wide range of Euro 6 diesel engines used for numerous Hyundai and Kia models of the Hyundai Motor Company worldwide. Engineered for high efficiency and reliability, BorgWarner's VTG technology features electrically actuated vanes and helps a wide range of its customer's diesel engines comply with current emissions standards. With its industry-leading expertise in advanced turbocharging technologies and its global supplier footprint, BorgWarner supports the production of economical high-performance diesel engines around the world.

"BorgWarner values its long-standing partnership with the Hyundai Motor Company and we are very proud to extend our cooperation by providing our latest VTG turbochargers, which improve fuel economy and enhance performance while reducing emissions, for a majority of their diesel engines," said Frédéric Lissalde, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems. "This collaboration emphasizes BorgWarner's role as a leading supplier of state-of-the-art VTG turbocharging technologies and further strengthens our market position in Asia."

BorgWarner's latest VTG turbocharger features a robust electric actuator and allows precise adjustment to the relevant engine operating points for optimum power output. The actuator controls the pressure upstream of the turbine, rapidly and precisely adjusting the guide vanes. By changing the inflow angle and speed at the turbine wheel inlet, BorgWarner's patented S-shaped guide vanes regulate the VTG turbine output, improving thermodynamics and engine response at very low rpm. The VTG turbocharger responds quickly at low engine speeds, resulting in a rapid rise in boost pressure for almost instant acceleration. Designed to operate reliably even under the toughest conditions, BorgWarner's latest VTG turbocharger offers excellent torque characteristics and increases efficiency in the low rev band to improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.
