ITM® Transfer Case Provides Increased Torque Capacity in a Smaller, Cost-Effective Package

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 4 / -- BorgWarner
introduces the second application of its next generation torque management
technology as optional equipment on the new 2008 Kia Mohave, recently launched
in Korea.

BorgWarner's new technology features an electronic control unit (ECU)
integrated with the shift motor assembly mounted directly on an InterActive
Torque Management® (ITM®) four-wheel-drive transfer case. This combination
provides assembly, cost and packaging advantages by eliminating a vehicle wire
harness and stand-alone ECU connection. In addition, the ITM transfer case
offers enhanced response and controllability with reduced noise, vibration and
harshness.

The Mohave will also offer BorgWarner part-time electric shift-on-the-fly technology as optional equipment. BorgWarner's electric shift-on-the-fly
technology contributes to a seamless transition to four-wheel drive, even when
the vehicle is moving. It is one of the many rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive
technologies in BorgWarner's portfolio of full-time, part-time and on-demand
systems.

"At BorgWarner, we are passionate about powertrain leadership. We
continually pursue new technologies and applications to provide our customers
with system solutions to meet the toughest specifications," said Cindy
Niekamp, President and General Manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. "We
are pleased to contribute our latest torque management technologies to the Kia
Mohave."

BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems will manufacture the ITM transfer cases
for Kia at its facility in Ochang, Korea. The new facility operates under the
BorgWarner Production System, which ensures the application of lean
manufacturing methodologies in every BorgWarner plant.
