Bicameral Cooperation Delivers Bill Needed to Achieve High-Quality Trade Deals that Open Markets, Benefit American Workers & Job Creators
WASHINGTON--Jim Greenwood, BIO President and CEO, released the following statement today upon the introduction of the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act of 2015:
"BIO and its members commend Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) and House Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) for introducing the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act of 2015. This carefully crafted bill will reauthorize Trade Promotion Authority, set the stage for the United States to complete important ongoing trade negotiations in Asia and Europe, and allow the United States to reclaim its traditional global trade leadership role.
“Trade agreements offer the most effective means to open markets and expand trade around the world for innovative biotechnology products, an area in which the United States has a competitive lead. In particular, these agreements protect and advance the interests of the small and medium sized companies that make up so much of our industry’s value chain. BIO looks forward to working with Congress and the Obama Administration to secure approval of this critical legislation.”
