Media Registration for the 2011 BIO International Convention Now Available Online



Global Event for Biotechnology to be Held June 27-30, 2011 in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced today that media registration for the 2011 BIO International Convention is now available online. Hosted by BIO, the global event for biotechnology will be held June 27-30, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The 2011 BIO International Convention will highlight the latest trends and the newest opportunities for executives, investors, scientists, policy leaders, and media from around the world. Speakers at the sessions will share breakthroughs in medicine, diagnostics, the environment, energy production, business operations, financing, partnerships, policy issues and food and agriculture.

In 2010 in Chicago, the BIO International Convention attracted 15,322 attendees from 49 states and 65 countries. The 2011 BIO International Convention is expected to draw more than 15,000 industry leaders from 48 states and 60 countries.

This year, the Convention program will feature more than 125 sessions in 16 tracks. New tracks for 2011 will include Achieving Regulatory Approval & Compliance, Biofuels & Biobased Chemicals, Diagnostics & Personalized Medicine, Global Innovations & Markets, Health Policy & Reimbursement, and Manufacturing of Biologics & Drugs. In addition, this year's BIO Exhibition will cover an estimated 200,000 net sq. ft. and host more than 1,700 exhibitors.

The BIO International Convention also includes the BIO Business Forum, which offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity for large and small biotech companies to gather in one place, at one time to engage in partnering discussions. In 2010, the BIO Business Forum hosted more than 17,000 partnering meetings with more than 2,000 companies participating.
