BIO Announces Program for BIO India International Conference



BIO India event will be held September 21 - 22 in Hyderabad, India

WASHINGTON & HYDERABAD, India - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announces the program for the BIO India International Conference to be held September 21 - 22 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Hyderabad, India. This exclusive forum will bring together biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from North America, Europe and Asia to meet and explore business opportunities with India's emerging biotech sector.

After a successful inaugural BIO India International Conference in 2010 featuring over 200 companies, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from North America, Europe and Asia are returning to Hyderabad this September. BIO India will feature BIO One-on-One Partnering, plenary and panel sessions, company presentations and exhibiting and networking opportunities.

BIO India attendees will have the opportunity to hear keynote addresses both days of the conference. Keynote speakers will include Glenn Saldanha, Chairman and Managing Director, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals; Aaron Schacht, Executive Director and COO, Global External R&D, Eli Lilly & Company; Vivek Mohan, President of Services at Alcatel-Lucent; and Cartikeya Reddy, Senior Vice-President and Head, Biologics, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.

The BIO India conference also will feature industry leaders discussing innovation and financing, global biopharma and examining a high-profile deal between a multi-national pharma and an Indian biotech company. Cross-Cultural Deal Making-Diving into Pfizer-Biocon

In late 2010, Pfizer and Biocon announced their insulin marketing and development collaboration, worth up to $350 M dollars. The deal has provided Pfizer with a foothold in India, and placed the companies at the center of the global biosimilar insulin marketplace, valued at $14 B per year. This panel features operational leaders from both companies engaging in a candid discussion covering the deal's structure, the collaboration's progress and the dynamics of cross-cultural dealmaking.
