Bernard Expands Q-Gun Line to Include OXO Features and Accessories

o OXO Cable, Handle and Consumables now compatible with Bernard Q-Gun
o MIG guns customizable through Bernard MIG gun Configurator

BEECHER, Ill., (February 22, 2007)-Bernard has made customizing the perfect MIG gun even easier by making its Q-Guns(TM) fully compatible with the features and accessories found in its OXO brand guns.

"We've talked to a lot of welders over the years who really loved certain features of the Bernard Q-Gun and other features of the OXO brand, but weren't able to combine them into a single MIG gun," explained product manager Bill Giese. "Now they can create their ideal MIG gun by mixing and matching those features into a single gun."

Previously incompatible Bernard and OXO features can now be interchanged to customize a Bernard MIG gun for even more applications and environments. The Bernard MIG gun configurator allows welders to select each component of a gun to arrive at the ideal configuration for their specific application.

For example, a welder can now begin by choosing either Bernard's light-weight and flexible Q(TM)-series cable or the S(TM)-series OXO-style steel "Monocoil" cable, which is designed for more abusive environments, such as shipyards and heavy construction sites. Choosing a Q-series cable will result in a Q-Gun, and likewise, an S-series cable will create an S-Gun(TM).

After selecting a cable length, anywhere from 8 to 25 feet, welders can choose one of several handle styles that match the capabilities of their cable.

"Selecting a handle is a matter of personal preference," Giese says. "Some welders like the larger, straighter Bernard handle and some prefer the smaller, more curved OXO-style handle. Either way, both handles are made of top quality materials and provide excellent functionality."

The integration of the two product lines means both Q-Guns and S-Guns are built with standard Bernard liners and necks for simplified maintenance and replacement parts ordering. It also makes both Q-Guns and S-guns compatible with quick-changing Jump Liners.

Welders also have their choice between Centerfire(TM), Quik Tip(TM) and Elliptical consumables, all of which are compatible with any gun configuration. The Quik Tip contact tips feature a unique threading design that allows them to be unscrewed and replaced in seconds, whereas Centerfire tips are "dropped in" and easily rotated to create additional wear surfaces.

Finally, welders can choose a direct plug for the gun based on their brand of power source.
