Belt Parkway Project, Brooklyn - Pirtek Newark Overhauls Sennbogen Hammer in Short Order

With the weather being pleasant in the Greater New York-New Jersey area this summer, PIRTEK Newark and PIRTEK South Brunswick have been busy providing critical support for hose and hydraulic component repair for various construction projects. With the New Jersey Turnpike and the Brooklyn Belt Parkway widening projects, our technicians have been saving valuable time and money for numerous contractors by providing a 1 Hour ETA daytime service and a 24/7 on-call service.

One such large Long Island, NY based contractor wanted to ready their Sennbogen Hammer for the Belt Parkway project that required several hoses totaling over 800 feet of 1 1/4 inch diameter (Dash 20), 5000 PSI hoses with an assortment of German metric fittings, in very short order. The local dealers could not provide this service due to an inordinate amount of specialty fittings needed in such a short time. A new Hammer costs over $2 million and the monthly rental rate for a replacement was $45,000.

PIRTEK Newark technicians Pedro Esteva and Greg Einecker immediately set off to Nassau County, Long Island as soon as the request came in. Within 8 hours, they had all the hoses removed, measured, fittings identified and verified with technical drawings. Ram Iyer, General Manager, PIRTEK Newark immediately contacted PIRTEK USA Central Warehouse located in Rockledge, Florida to ensuring supply. While Oak O'Hara, the inventory manager at PIRTEK USA could supply 95% of the products, he set in motion a few phone calls to our European partners and other US based PIRTEK Centers and had assembled all the components within 24 hours.

Due to the downtime cost for this machine, and the short lead time given, rather than ship all the raw components to PIRTEK Newark, which would have delayed the project, Jamie Vokes, Director of Sales and Customer Support decided to assemble the hoses in Florida to the specifications provided by the PIRTEK Newark Team using assistance from the PIRTEK Space Coast, Florida technicians and the PIRTEK USA Training Center technicians. Within 24 hours all the hoses, weighing over 1000 lbs were assembled and sent directly to Long Island by Federal Express freight. By the fifth day, Pedro Esteva and Greg Einecker along with an engineer from the manufacturer had installed and tested the hoses on the machine.

In the past 9 years while owning PIRTEK Newark and South Brunswick, it has given me great joy every time I ride in a car and see the small contribution that our PIRTEK technicians have made to keep equipment running during infrastructure improvements to this area; roads, rails, bridges, tunnels, ports, electric grids just to name a few.

While this project was not a technological feat, it was however a testament to the power of a national PIRTEK team that could deliver a service to a key customer when they really needed it.

Rockledge, Florida-based PIRTEK is the world's leading service provider of ETA 1 Hour On-Site Hose Replacement. PIRTEK offers a 24 hour, 7 day service that serves almost every facet of industry including construction, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture and engineering among others. When an equipment breakdown occurs, it often results in costly delays in time and labor before the proper replacement hose is located and installed but PIRTEK vans carry the component parts necessary to manufacture hose assemblies on site. Hose and fittings can also be purchased over-the-counter at PIRTEK's national network of service centers that serve as home bases to its mobile fleet. There are nearly 40 PIRTEK service centers nationwide and over 170 PIRTEK mobile service vans serving major metropolitan markets throughout the country.
