BAE Systems Employee Named Outstanding Young Engineer for 2007

NASHUA, New Hampshire - Liberty Gunter of Dunbarton has been named the Outstanding IEEE New Hampshire Young Engineer for 2007. Gunter, who was recognized for her work in electrical and semiconductor engineering at BAE Systems in Nashua, received the award at the November meeting of the New Hampshire Section of the IEEE.

The nonprofit IEEE is a professional association for the advancement of technology.

Gunter joined BAE Systems in 2002 and has held lead positions in electrical engineering and in the semiconductor area, where she currently has a patent pending on her work. She also volunteers as a mentor in the company's Women in Technology program for high school students and works with the FIRST Robotics program and LEGO League.

Gunter earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Wheaton College and a master's in electrical engineering from Boston University. She currently is pursuing a master's degree in management of technology from the University of New Hampshire.

The Outstanding IEEE New Hampshire Young Engineer award was established in 2004. The award recognizes engineers 35 and younger for outstanding contributions to technical-society activities, community and humanitarian activities, and evidence of leadership and technical competence through significant engineering achievements.
