Morton Jones Recognized with Award from ASTM International Building Seals and Sealants Committee



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., October 1, 2009-Morton Jones, director of research and development - caulks and adhesives, at Gardner-Gibson, Tampa, Fla., has received the Lou Toporcer Hall of Fame Award from ASTM International Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants.

The Toporcer Award is presented annually to a member of Committee C24 in recognition of distinguished service in the area of building seals and sealants and for contributions to the stimulation of research and promotion of knowledge as well as exceptional service to both the industry and the committee.

A member of ASTM International since 1996, Jones works on several C24 subcommittees, and he is the current chair of Subcommittee C24.20 on General Test Methods.

Jones began his career at Superior Sealants Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. He also held positions at Para-Chem, Simpsonville, S.C., and Dap Inc., in both the Dayton, Ohio, and Baltimore, Md., laboratories, before assuming his role at Gardner-Gibson in 2001. He specializes in the development and commercialization of acrylic latex sealants, latex contact cements, construction adhesives, wallcovering adhesives and latex coatings.

In addition to ASTM International, Jones is a member of the American Chemical Society. He holds a bachelor's degree in geology from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga.
