Automated Precision Inc. Uses Sugino Drill Unit at IMTS to Demonstrate Improved Positioning for Robot Drilling Applications

During the IMTS show in Chicago (September 12-17) API who is an integrator based in Maryland will be demonstrating a robot guidance system designed to improve the positioning accuracy for drilling holes in large workpiece components such as parts for aircraft and large truck bodies. API approached Sugino requesting the use of a drill unit as part of the demonstration. Sugino responded with offering options ranging from our all pneumatic drills, air/electric units, or an all servo option. Although our ES2 air/electric unit was chosen as the best option for the demonstration currently there are Sugino customers who are using both the ES type and Servo units for robot drilling applications.

As the drilling of large components, especially within the aviation sector, becomes more automated Sugino is looking forward to contributing to the growth of this process by offering our standard and proven drilling and tapping equipment.

Sugino is now also offering end-of-arm tools and spindles for robot deburring applications.
