At Fakuma, Nordson to Highlight Broad Range of Nordson BKG Underwater Pelletizing Technologies

MÃœNSTER, GERMANY, – At its Fakuma 2015 exhibit, Nordson Corporation will emphasize the broad range of Nordson BKG underwater pelletizing systems available for polymer companies, compounders, and recyclers (Stand A6-6406).

Nordson BKG underwater pelletizers fall into three groups with increasingly more elaborate or sophisticated features, greater throughput, and higher cost. These are the Master-Line™, Combi-Line™, and Opti-Line™. Recent innovations have enhanced the performance of all three systems:

• A new water filtration system for Opti-Line™ pelletizers uses over 90% less energy than standard systems and cuts overall pelletizer power usage by 10 to 17%.

• For lower-cost Master-Line™ pelletizers, a new optional belt filter for the water system provides some of the finer-filtration and self-cleaning features available with the Opti-Line pelletizer.

• For all Nordson BKG pelletizers, new-design cutter hubs and blades increase throughput, improve transportation of pellets from the cutting area, simplify cutter assembly, and provide new options for reducing wear to die plates and blades,

For PET and PLA resins, Nordson has also developed the CrystallCut® system, which pelletizes and crystallizes in one step. In December of 2014, a CrystallCut system was started up as part of Lotte Chemical UK’s new 200,000 metric ton PET plant at Wilton. The CrystallCut system saves energy by re-using the heat from the polymer melt in the pelletizing step to crystallize the pellets at a later stage in an integrated process.

The CrystallCut system at Wilton is actually part of a 25 ton per hour equipment package that also includes a Nordson Kreyenborg screen changer.

Nordson operates a fully equipped trial facility at its Muenster, Germany facility that is available to demonstrate Nordson BKG underwater pelletizing systems and Nordson Kreyenborg melt filtration and pump systems.
