AT&T Appoints Paulino Do Rego Barros Jr. as New President of At&T Global Operations

ATLANTA, March 8, 2007 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that Paulino do Rego Barros Jr. has been appointed as the president of AT&T Global Operations. This is a new position designed to accelerate the growth of AT&T's portfolio of IP services and solutions to global companies and institutions in key markets around the world.

Barros said that he is looking forward to the challenge of continuing to build AT&T's global business. "I'm thrilled to be taking on this role at this time. AT&T is uniquely positioned to be able to take advantage of this opportunity," he said.

"With the merger with BellSouth/Cingular, AT&T has become one of the world's largest telecoms companies," Barros added.

"AT&T is now making investments in its flagship and industry-leading Virtual Private Network services portfolio (currently growing at more than 30 percent year on year) and in VoIP, security, hosting and Internet access services. All of these services are key to AT&T's strategy of delivering differentiated and value-added IP-based solutions to companies whose business models are being transformed by the Internet," he continued.

Before the AT&T-BellSouth merger, Mr. Barros was the chief product officer of retail markets for BellSouth Corporation. There, he was responsible for the management of BellSouth's industry leading portfolio of voice, data and IP services, and the development and commercialization of future products and services. This portfolio included local and long distance voice services to broadband products, retail IP and data services, video, wireless and wireless/wireline.

Previously, Mr. Barros was president of BellSouth Latin America. There, he had overall responsibility for BellSouth's operations in Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala. In 2004, BellSouth signed a definitive agreement with Telefónica Móviles, the wireless affiliate of Telefónica S.A., to sell BellSouth's interests held in all of these countries.

Mr. Barros joined BellSouth International in December of 2000 as chief planning and operations officer responsible for Operations Planning, Supply Chain Management, IT and Network Engineering and became regional vice president of Latin America, covering Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala in January 2002.

Before working for BellSouth, Mr. Barros served as corporate vice president and general manager of Latin America Group for Motorola, Inc. and was corporate vice president and general manager of Market Operations-Americas for Motorola, Inc. He also held a variety of positions with The NutraSweet Company in Chicago and Monsanto Company in both Missouri, USA and Brazil.

The Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine named Mr. Barros as one of the "50 Most Important Hispanics in Technology" for two consecutive years (2004 and 2005) and as one of the "100 Most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business" in 2006. Today, he serves on the board of the American Red Cross - Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter.

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mr. Barros received a degree in mechanical engineering in 1979 and a degree in electrical engineering in 1981 in Brazil, as well as an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1991.
