Papers are Invited for ASTM Symposium on Determination of Wax Content and Wax Appearance Temperature of Crude Oils
Press release date: January 21, 2010
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - Papers are invited for a symposium on "Determination of Wax Content and Wax Appearance Temperature of Crude Oils," to be held June 21, 2011. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum and Petroleum Products, the symposium will be held at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Md., in conjunction with the June 19-23 standards development meetings of the committee.
The general objective of the symposium is to provide a technical forum for presentations and discussions pertaining to current research and practices relating to determination of the wax content and wax appearance temperature (WAT) of crude oil. The forum will also provide future direction and suggest new standards for ASTM Subcommittee D02.02 Hydrocarbon Measurement for Custody Transfer to investigate.
Laboratories and laboratory technicians and chemists involved in comprehensive crude oil analysis should attend this event. This group includes those persons associated with petroleum companies that conduct in-house analyses, and also third party inspection companies that perform contract analyses. Members of associations such as the Crude Oil Quality Association and the Canadian Crude Oil Quality Association will also be interested. The resulting publication will be of interest to technicians and chemists conducting comprehensive crude oil analyses, and to administrative and management personnel responsible for determining the analyses to be performed on specific crude oils. The publication will also be of interest to operating personnel in up-, mid- and downstream sectors of the industry.
Interested presenters must submit a 250-300 word abstract online at www.astm.org/D02symp0611.htm by June 15, 2010. Symposium chair Harry Giles will notify you by Aug. 15, 2010, of your paper's acceptability for presentation. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI). JAI is an online, peer-reviewed journal for the international scientific and engineering community (www.astm.org/JAI).
