Standardization of Mold Response Procedures
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., 24 March 2009-The 2009 Johnson Conference: Standardization of Mold Response Procedures, will be held July 13-15, 2009, at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt. The conference is sponsored by ASTM International Committee D22 on Air Quality.
Conference emphasis will be on practical, science-based field applications. The program will focus on development of standard mold protocols considering moisture dynamics, occupant sensitivity, analytical techniques, use, misuse and interpretation of microbial testing, response options and verification. Critiques of existing guidelines, discussion of litigation methodology and new technologies are also welcome. The conference format will include the following four sessions with example topics listed:
o Assessment - building inspection techniques, moisture evaluation;
o Testing - sampling and analytical procedures, new technologies, data interpretation;
o Health - health effects, screening procedures, causation, susceptibility; and
o Remediation - removal/treatment options, site controls, personal protection and verification.
The conference will be of interest to investigators (e.g., hygienists, engineers, physicians and public health officials), laboratory analysts and managers, stakeholders (e.g., building owners and managers, insurance industry, public interest groups) and federal, state and local government representatives.

Online registration closes July 5, 2009. The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members, presenters and session chairs is $325 for online registration and $375 for on-site registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $375 online and $425 on site. The fee is waived for students with a valid I.D.
