On October 31, ASTM International Committee D10 on Packaging will sponsor workshop, The Future of ASTM D4169 (Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems). Task groups were formed to review data from 1995 to present to learn if new data is available concerning various hazards in distribution, including handling, vibration, stacking, and rail switching. Presentations will review data and recommended revisions for updating schedules/elements of D4169.

ASTM International Packaging Committee Sponsors Workshop on Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - ASTM International Committee D10 on Packaging will sponsor a workshop, The Future of ASTM D4169 (Standard Practice for Performance Testing of Shipping Containers and Systems), on Oct. 31 at the Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Fla. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the October standards development meetings of the committee.

One year ago, new task groups were formed to review and potentially revise portions of ASTM D4169. Their tasks were to review data from 1995 to the present to learn if new data is available concerning the various hazards in distribution, including handling, vibration, stacking, rail switching and environmental hazards. Presentations are being planned at this workshop to present the review of the data and recommended revisions for updating the schedules/elements of D4169.
