ASTM Committee names Darla Goeres as new chairman.

Darla M. Goeres, associate research professor of chemical and biological engineering, Montana State University, Bozeman, MT, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents. Goeres has been with Montana State University since 1997, and currently leads the standardized biofilm methods laboratory in the Center for Biofilm Engineering. She is also a member of the Planetary Protection Subcommittee of the NASA Advisory Council.

ASTM International Committee on Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents Names Darla Goeres as New Chairman



Darla M. Goeres, associate research professor of chemical & biological engineering, Montana State University, Bozeman, Mont., has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents. 



Formed in 1973, E35 has over 285 members representing 25 countries, and includes 5 technical subcommittees that oversee 110 standards related to the impact in appropriate environments of pesticides, antiseptic and antimicrobial agents, biological agents, and more. Goeres has been a member of ASTM since 2000.



Goeres has been with Montana State University since 1997, and currently leads the standardized biofilm methods laboratory in the Center for Biofilm Engineering. A graduate of Montana State University, Goeres holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, a master’s degree, and PhD in environmental engineering.



Goeres is a member of the Planetary Protection Subcommittee of the NASA Advisory Council, and was awarded a Fulbright in 2014 to conduct biofilm research in Turku, Finland. In 2013 she was the recipient of the Chip Collins Memorial Award for her work on committee E35.
