ASC Promotes Industry at USA Science and Engineering Festival

Council Works with Members to Promote Product Innovation and Career Paths

Bethesda, MD – The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) is participating in the USA Science & Engineering Festival being held April 26-27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The festival is in its 3rd year, and was founded and hosted by Lockheed Martin in order to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum at all educational levels within the United States educational system.

More than 750 leading STEM organizations will present hands-on science and engineering activities for students of all ages.  The event is free of charge, and is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across the United States.

ASC partnered with several of its members, including DAP, Elmer’s Glue, and Gorilla Glue, and will have a booth (#240) promoting the entire adhesive & sealant industry.  The booth will feature hands-on product demonstrations, giveaways, and a video promoting our industry’s focus on bio-mimicry research.

Specifically, every half hour, ASC staff will demo how to make magnets with artwork, magazines, wrapping paper, or printables using adhesives. ASC will also be promoting the World of Glue Instructional Unit developed by Elmer’s Glue in consultation with ASC and DNPA international.  Teachers will be able to obtain copies of the educational unit, geared towards grades K-5 at ASC’s booth, and one lucky teacher will win a World of Glue kit complete with a t-shirt, several glues, the instructional unit, and Jason Lefebvre’s book—Too Much Glue.  Another ASC member—DAP—generously donated kitchen & bath caulk, which will be given to those DIY adults walking through ASC’s booth.

The Council will also run a short video throughout the show focusing on nature as an inspiration for adhesives and sealants.

“ASC is proud to be part of the USA Science and Engineering Festival, and taking an active role in promoting our industry to students,” notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC.  “This is a first of its kind for the Council, and we are confident that we will reach an important audience with our science message:  Stick to Science & Engineering!”
