ASC And ASMAC Co-Sponsor Fundamentals Of Adhesion Short Course



BETHESDA, MD (January 29, 2007) - The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) is
pleased to announce its Fundamentals of Adhesion Short Course to be held in Toronto,
ON from June 7-8, 2007 at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel. The Adhesives and
Sealants Manufacturers Association of Canada (ASMAC) is proudly co-sponsoring this
educational event.

This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the principles of adhesion
science. Led by professors from Virginia Tech, this two-day short course will address
various topics, including:
o Basic stress distributions in important bonded joint families;
o Advantages and disadvantages of different test geometries;
o Prediction of long-term performance through short-term tests;
o Environmental factors and their effect on adhesive durability;
o Principles of surface chemistry and how they apply to adhesive bonding;
o Surface analysis techniques.

This course is designed for entry-level chemists, application engineers, sales and
marketing professionals, and other technical personnel employed by adhesive companies,
