ASABE Forms New Technical Committee on Unmanned Aerial Systems.

ASABE Announces New Technical Committee for Unmanned Aerial Systems



ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN — The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announces the formation of a new technical committee focused on unmanned aerial systems (UAS).



Joining more than three dozen established committees in the Society’s Machinery Systems technical community, the UAS committee, designated MS-60, will focus on research, education, and the development of standards pertaining to this rapidly expanding area of the agricultural industry.



The committee is chaired by Wayne Woldt, an associate professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. MS-60 will address the development and applications of unmanned aerial systems in agriculture, associated autonomous control systems, integrated multi-mode sensor payloads, data links and communication systems, and synthesis of UAS-derived data across the full scope of ASABE technical interests.
