ASABE Adopts Rear-Mounted Three-Point Linkage ISO Standard

ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN— The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has completed adoption of ISO standard ISO 730:2009 for rear-mounted three-point linkage of agricultural wheeled tractors.

The adoption, ANSI/ASABE AD730:2009 DEC2012, Agricultural wheeled tractors — Rear-mounted three-point linkage — Categories 1N, 1, 2N, 2, 3N, 3, 4N and 4, replaces ASAE S217.12, Three-Point Free Link Attachment for Hitching Implements to Agricultural Wheel Tractors.  The ASABE standard deviates from the ISO document by correcting the value of the movement range for Category 1N linkage and replacing an ISO document normative reference with an ASABE standard.  Users of the new ISO adoption will notice many similarities with the withdrawn ASAE S217.12, an earlier version of which provided much of the original basis for the ISO standard.

This adoption further harmonizes national and international standardization, a goal that facilitates manufacturing, safety advancements and product marketing worldwide.
