ARTEL Announces Appointment of Dr. Bjoern Carle to Support R&D and Growth of Services


Westbrook, ME (August 13, 2007) - ARTEL, the leading expert in liquid handling quality assurance, announces the appointment of Bjoern Carle, Ph.D., to Laboratory Applications Scientist. Dr. Carle will play an integral role in ARTEL's Research and Development efforts by contributing to the design and engineering of new products and product enhancements. Dr. Carle will also provide instrument validation and on-site customer training as part of ARTEL's expanding LHQATM (Liquid Handling Quality Assurance) suite of services.

Dr. Carle has previous experience with measurement technology, method development and instrumentation quality control. After earning his M.S. and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, he conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Carle's research focused on understanding biochemical processes in skin cells after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light in an effort to improve treatment and UV-protective formulations. He has also studied the synthesis and photolysis of light-activated DNA cleaving agents.
