ART Technologies Embraces Green Energy Efforts

June 20, 2009 -- ART Technologies President Robb McCoy is going green and leading by example to make a positive impact on the environment. President McCoy uses digital media rather than paper for customer's quotes, monthly financial statements, and weekly staff reports. He also turns off electronic equipment and lights when leaving a room. These seemingly small changes have morphed into a huge Green Energy initiative with employees, vendors, and even some customers.

ART Technologies employees have taken note of his efforts and are up to the challenge of making a serious effort to use green practices in the workplace. The company also offers incentives for green initiatives that help the environment. ART works with customers to use returnable containers when appropriate. In many cases these ideas have lead to cost savings for the company as well. Mike Cummings, a machinist at ART Technologies is spearheading the recycling program, he has placed bins throughout the facility to reduce the trash stream and he drops off the material on his way home from work on a weekly basis.

Employee suggestions have ranged from environmentally friendly cleaning products to battery operated hi-lows. Each suggestion is evaluated for practicality, effectiveness, and potential cost savings. Not every suggestion makes sense or works, but the employees have fully embraced this Green Energy initiative. "At first you think, what good will turning off a few lights do," said Patty Moore, Executive Assistant, "but after seeing all the employees doing it and then adding up the number of lights...you feel good, like you are really helping the environment."

After a recent meeting at the ART Technologies plant, a customer was curious about all of the dark offices. An ART employee explained the new green incentives, the customer was impressed enough to express that it would be a great idea to push at his company as well.

Small changes applied on a broad scale can add up to big savings in both terms of energy and dollars. ART Technologies is seeing this first hand, and is proud that their employees are taking this effort seriously and helping effect changes that can help the environment.
