Approval for Explosion Protection Design and Manufacturing

Phoenix Contact USA, a world leader in electrical connection, electronic interface and industrial automation technologies, has received a Quality Assurance Notification (QAN) certificate to design and produce products that meet the ATEX (Directive 94/9/EC and IECEx) standard for explosive atmospheres.

The company was audited by KEMA (kema.com), an independent expert on risk, performance and quality management in the field of electricity, gas and heat.

By obtaining approval to the ATEX/IECEx standards, Phoenix Contact USA will add capability to develop innovative products for all type of devices that deal with explosive atmospheres. This will complement process fieldbus markets such as Fieldbus Foundation, Profibus PA and other markets that require explosion protection techniques.

These standards build on Phoenix Contact's existing approvals from DQS for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007, that support the company's Quality, Environmental and Health/Safety systems.

Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG, Blomberg, Germany, operates 46 international subsidiaries, including Phoenix Contact USA in Middletown, Pa. Phoenix Contact's formal Integrated Management Systems meet International Standards Organization (ISO) quality, environmental and safety requirements (ISO 9001:2000,14001:2004 and 18001:2007).
