Appleton Publishes Industrial LED Lighting White Paper

ROSEMONT, IL, September 22, 2010 - High quality, environmentally friendly LED lighting has arrived in industrial facilities, according to a new white paper from Appleton.

Light-emitting diodes or LEDs have been available since the late 1960s, and have steadily progressed in cost-effectiveness, color options, light output and efficiency. Thanks to ongoing advancements LED applications have grown exponentially but until now have not included industrial settings, hazardous locations or parking garages.

According to the white paper, titled "LED Lighting for Hazardous Locations," the time for industrial LED use has arrived, with the author siting reasons such as recent legislation phasing out of mercury vapor ballasts and lamps.

Topics in the paper include:
o An introduction to LED technology
o Addressing common myths (i.e., LED brightness, color rendering)
o Benefits of LED lighting in industrial settings
o Comparing Lumen output
o LED energy efficiency
o Managing heat.
