ANSI Cities Network Webinar to Feature Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System

On March 25th the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Network on Smart and Sustainable Cities (ANSSC) will host its monthly webinar from 2-3:30 pm EDT on the EnvisionTM Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System, administered by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). The featured speaker will be Denise Nelson, vice president for public education at ISI.

EnvisionTM is the product of a joint collaboration between the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and ISI, an organization founded by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the American Public Works Association (APWA), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Envision™ provides a holistic framework for evaluating and rating the community, environmental, and economic benefits of all types and sizes of infrastructure projects. It evaluates, grades, and gives recognition to infrastructure projects that use transformational, collaborative approaches to assess sustainability indicators over the course of the project's life cycle. Envision™ has assessment tools that can be used for infrastructure projects of all types, sizes, complexities, and locations. It can be used by infrastructure owners, design teams, community groups, environmental organizations, constructors, regulators, and policy makers to achieve their sustainability goals.

Denise Nelson’s responsibilities at ISI include training and education for both public- and private-sector organizations and overall coordination of messaging and promotions. Ms. Nelson has over 12 years of engineering experience related to public utilities and sustainable development in the U.S. and overseas. Previously, as a consulting engineer, she worked for Metcalf & Eddy and Maunsell, both now AECOM, and Greeley and Hansen. Ms. Nelson received her bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech and her master of science degree in environmental engineering from the University of Cincinnati. She is a registered PE, a LEED AP, and an Envision Sustainability Professional.
