ANSI Seeks Input on ISO Survey on Possible ISO Building Code Standards

The International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) Technical Advisory Group (TAG) 8, Building, the committee responsible for addressing international standards related to building, is exploring the potential need to further develop international building code standards. As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites interested parties to respond to a brief ISO survey on this matter.

To assess global interest in ISO developing such standards, stakeholders are invited to provide input on the following three questions to isot@ansi.org by close of business on March 23, 2012:

1. Should ISO work on a series of standards dealing with the design of structures?

2. If yes, which system of standards could be taken as a basis to develop the series?

3. Would you be interested in taking an active part in any development work identified as a result of this feedback (national body active participation means, at minimum, commenting on the drafts).

Feedback received by the March 23 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comments, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) for formal approval.
