ANSI seeks comments on proposed road traffic safety committee.

March 21, 2012 - SIS, the Swedish Standards Institute, has submitted proposal to ISO to convert ISO Project Committee 241, Road Traffic Safety Management System, into new ISO technical committee with expanded scope and work program. According to proposal, ISO technical committee would focus on development of requirement standard for road traffic safety, RTS specific auditing requirements in third-party certification, and implementation and guidance documents.

ANSI Seeks Comments on Proposal to Create ISO Technical Committee Related to Road Traffic Safety Management Standards

2) RTS specific auditing requirements in third-party certification; and
3) implementation and guidance documents. The first of these activities, ISO 39001, Road traffic safety (RTS) management systems - Requirements with guidance for use, is already underway and is expected to be released by ISO PC 241 by the end of 2012. It should be noted that at the present time, there is no U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO PC 241. All comments on the proposal should be sent to Steven P. Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy (firstname.lastname@example.org). Feedback received by the April 13 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comments, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) for formal approval.
