ANSI releases updated agenda for Joint Member Forum.

ANSI Releases Updated Agenda for April 20 Joint Member Forum Featuring Deborah Wince-Smith

Register Now for JMF, OMF, and CMF Meetings The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released an updated agenda for the Joint Member Forum (JMF) meeting and luncheon to take place on April 20, 2011, as part of the Institute's annual spring member meetings in Arlington, VA. The event is open to all ANSI members; advance registration is required. The highly anticipated JMF meeting will feature special guest speaker Deborah Wince-Smith, president and CEO of the Council on Competitiveness-a coalition dedicated to advancing American competitiveness and prosperity in the global economy. Internationally renowned as a leading voice on competitiveness, innovation strategy, science and technology, and international economic policy, Ms. Wince-Smith will provide a keynote address on "21st Century Manufacturing for an Innovation Economy." Her presentation will examine how, through innovation, the U.S. can maintain a high-income economy against rising competitive capabilities worldwide. A session for open dialogue with Ms. Wince-Smith will follow her presentation. Bryan Seal of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will provide an update on OSHA's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (I2P2). Additional JMF agenda items include the coordinated ANSI response to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) request for comment on federal involvement in standardization; a discussion of UL's Environment Program and its first organizational sustainability standard; an overview of the ANSI Committee on Education's (COE's) activities for 2011-2012; and an update on the Institute's website redesign. In addition to the ANSI member forums, the Institute will host meetings of the International Policy Committee (IPC) and the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day (WSD) Planning Committee on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. These meetings are being co-located in the DC metro area to provide convenient access to all events. The IPC meeting will be held at ANSI's Headquarters office (1899 L Street, NW, 11th Floor, Washington, DC, 20036); the WSD Planning Committee meeting will be held at the office of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). Attendance at these events is limited to committee members only.
